Success for Gadchiroli police : 1 Maoist neutralized during encounter
Gadchiroli police received a reliable intelligence that 30 to 40 Maoist cadres of CPI (Maoists) groups belonging to Aheri and Permili LOS had gathered in Kapewancha forest area in jurisdiction of SPS Rajaram (kha) in Aheri Subdivision in order to carry out subversive activities against security forces. Accordingly, on 28/09/2022 at around 1800 hrs, an anti-naxal operation was launched by the commandos of Special Operation Squads (C-60), while the commandos were conducting search operations in the forest of Kapevancha, 30 to 40 hidden armed Maoists opened indiscriminate fire in the direction of the commandos with the intention of killing them and thereafter snatch away their arms and ammunition. At that time, the commandos appealed to the Maoists to stop the gunfire and surrender. But, disregarding the appeal made by police, the Maoists intensified gunfire fire at the commandos. Then, in order to repel the attack, the commandos opened retaliatory fire at the Maoists in self-defense. Sensing mounting police pressure, the Maoists fled away from the place of incident taking cover under the thick forest.
As the gunfire ended, the commandos carried out the search of the place of incident. During the search, commandos recovered 1 female dead body of Maoist clad in dark green uniform, 8 MM rifle – 1, arms-ammunitions and daily essential items have been successfully recovered by the commandos from the spot.
